How to manage announcements

Ticker works in two ways: you can set a default announcement that you can hide and show at any time, and you can schedule announcements to display automatically.

Consider default announcement to be the generic message that will appear on your store at all times, though you are not required to use it in this manner. When you schedule an announcement, (or once the announcement expires), Ticker will set your store to your default settings.

Available Styles​

You can switch between different styles of announcement bars anytime:

  • Countdown Bar (Message with countdown timer)
  • Newsticker (Scrolling text)
  • Simple Bar (Plain message)

Default Announcement​

We suggest that you set your default announcement to a general message so that you can use scheduling. So that it can go back to the default message when a scheduled message ends.

Here are some ideas for a default message. (Use capture icon to easily copy these messages):

Design and Select Style​

To set your defaul announcement, open the App dashboard and click "Manage Default"

Alternatively you can set your default announcement within Shopify theme editor by clicking "Preview"

Select Time​

Set start time and expiration time for your announcement

What happens when announcement expires?​

Ticker will remove the scheduled announcement from your store and change it to your default announcement settings.

For instance, if your default message is set to hide, no message will show up when the timer runs out.
